Fashion | THE NORTH FACE CAPSULE COLLECTION FW 2014
Good design is a kind of utopia that mixes in a perfect balance beauty and functionality.
To be honest, it is not so easy to find proper examples. Try to think about it. Sometimes you get something beautiful but simply useless, sometimes you find the right functionalism, but the ugliest design.
Good design is the first thing we thought, as soon as we put our eyes on the fantastic result of the collaboration between The North Face and TU GLAM Studio.
TU GLAM, a design and consulting agency based in Modena – Italy,
was asked to design three Capsule Collection for The North Face.
These three Collections (Heritage Capsule, Mountain Capsule and Urban Modern Capsule) were presented during the FW14 PITTI In Florence, last January.
They are a perfect mix between Heritage and modern living. The final result is a line of clothes that have all the technology features you expect a North Face item to have, twisted with an unexpected modern approach, for the contemporary man, who travels around the world and doesn't want to feel uncomfortable. Never ever.
We really like them. In particular we love the obsession that Tu Glam put on the details, respecting the original Archive by North Face.

Books | Hiroshi Fujiwara by Rizzoli
The 1st of April 2014 Rizzoli USA will be releasing a book dedicated to Hiroshi Fujiwara.
It will contain contributions by Eric Clapton, Mark Parker, Nigo, Jean Touitou and Sarah Lerfel.
About This Book
The first monograph on the "godfather of streetwear," this book pays homage to Hiroshi Fujiwara's influence on contemporary fashion, music, and design. The most comprehensive book devoted to the extensive work of Hiroshi Fujiwara-a pioneer in streetwear, music, and art, and the ultimate arbiter of cool. Known internationally as one of the founding fathers of Tokyo's Harajuku scene, Fujiwara exerts a disproportionate influence over contemporary design culture. Having collaborated with the likes of Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood as a teenager in the early 1980s, he merged a seminal interest in punk with hip-hop and skate culture to become one of Japan's principal tastemakers. A musician and producer, Fujiwara is also one of the most prolific sneaker designers, and his kicks are some of the most sought-after collectibles. In addition to his very visible and long-standing collaborations with Nike, he has authored a number of fashion lines and is at the head of the Tokyo-based Fragment Design.
Chronicling his reign as the arbiter of hip for more than thirty years, this book presents the breadth of his career, including sections on his highly sought-after artwork and graphics, sneakers, product design, and curated personal effects. With an introduction by friend and collaborator Eric Clapton and contributions by Mark Parker, Jean Touitou, Nigo, and Sarah Lerfel, this graphically inspired book provides a unique glimpse into one of the most influential tastemakers of our time and is the perfect follow-up to Rizzoli'sPharrell: Places and Spaces I've Been.

Talents | Zamoc
I must confess an obsession. Lately I'm completely addicted with a blog. It's blog runned by a friend of mine. His name is Zamoc and I'm 100% sure you'll be hearing his name in the future, because he's a damn talented illustrator and artist. Now he's on board of a supply ship directed to L.A. He's in the middle of the Ocean, I would say in the middle of nowhere, and the only way he keeps linked with the rest of the world is his online diary /blog. It's the right place to post thoughts and drawings, both great!
What else I can say? It does worth a visit everyday, and I'm so sorry for everybody who can't actually read italian.
Check here.

Art | KRAFTWERK at Tate...
Everybody knew that. What? That the Tate website would have crashed today.
A little introduction: KRAFTWERK, the mythological German electro band will be performing live next Feb 2013 at the Tate Modern, in a series of gigs (the dame Show that they did in NYC last April).
Today at 7.30am the tickets were supposed to be sold online. This has caused the crash. Ugh!!!

Brands | Blue Blanket
We remember that once, in the past, long time ago, denim was a synonymous of USA. All the denim stuff came from there. The big players were Levi's and Lee. No doubts. Then, something has finally happened. It's always a pleasure, to me, to discover a new brand. A pleasure even bigger if the brand is from Italy like The Blue Blanket. A brand established and runned by a true denim connoisseur and collector, Antonio Di Battista. The project is really simple: honest and very good products plus a sick attention to details. No frills. Very good. We love it!
Click here to get to Blue Blanket website for more info and pics.
People | Maurizio Donadi
We already wrote about Maurizio Donadi almost one year ago. He was still Vice President at Levis Vintage Clothing in Amsterdam. We've already had a great admiration for his job, for LVC but also for what he was able to do with RRL. Now we've read he's just launched a Consultancy Agency, together with his wife, called Conduit Creative. Reading here and there is going to work with a brand like Filson, so we're terribly curious to see what is coming out in the next months. Congratulazioni Maurizio, and, as we say in Italy, "in bocca al lupo"!
Breaking News | Alexander Wang
So it sounds almost official: Alexander Wang will be the next Front-Runner at Balenciaga

News | We're back!
Ok. Sorry for the lack of news and information. Our last post was in September: an era ago. We have to admit that nothing particularly significant has happened since then. It looks like Streetwear/Fashion System is in the middle of the river. Lately we've seen just releases and releases, every single day. Blogs have become kind of catalogues that post the same pictures and news. Boring? Yes. Honestly.
Anyway, let's start again... :-)

Art | SITUATION GIGI An Auction by Artists in Aid of Gigi Giannuzzi
Gigi Giannuzzi, the maverick publisher of Trolley Books
and more recently TJ Boulting gallery, was recently
diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas. This is devastating
news for many who know him and respect his work as one
of the bravest and most beautiful of creative forces,
publishing through Trolley many important stories
through photography, reportage and contemporary art,
but also personally, as a rare and one-off crazy spirit.
To support him now, as he has helped and recognised many over the
years, artists who know Gigi have donated their work for a special
auction to help raise money for him. The funds will go towards alternative
cancer treatments which he is currently seeking at a private clinic near
Munich, Germany. The auction will feature works by many major artists,
as well as several who have worked directly with Gigi over the years.
In particular Polly Morgan and Mat Collishaw have been the driving
force behind the artists and auction itself, and Sarah Lucas, who has
given over her 'situations' space for the night, has hence given the
name of the auction - SITUATION GIGI.
