Design | Massimo Vignelli

Do you know who Massimo VIgnelli is, isn’t it? If no, shame on you! Maybe you’ve seen million of times the infographic of the NYC subway and you haven’t never realized that a genius from Italy designed it! Now you know! Anyway, last March 8, The Architectural League gave its President’s Medal to Lella and Massimo Vignelli “in recognition of a body of work so influential in its breadth that it has shaped the very way we see the world”. The gala party was set i Manhattan and invitations and poster were especially designed by Pentagram‘s Creative Director Michael Bierut that started his brilliant career more than 30 years ago, working as Junior Designer at Vignelli’s Studio.

JAPAN | JUST GIVING

It is needless to say that what happened last 11th of March in Japan made us feel so sad and let us feel absolutely helpless in front of that devastation and tragedy. The only thing that we can do is give our solidarity to all the Japan people! We pray for you all and we hope everything will be back normal really soon.

Just seen on Jun Takahashi's blog this website that is raising funds for help people in Japan. We'll give our donation, hope you'll do the same.

ps: You can find here the english guide.

People | Chris Gibb

Lately we've been following the blog runned by Chris Gibb (UNION) that we've been lucky enough to meet last January at Pitti79. We've found one of his last post, about a rush-trip to Tokyo, really nice. We love that Mercedes G Wagon (apparently the Hiroki Nakamura's personal car) in that particular color. Check here for the rest of the entries. It def worth a look!

Art+Media | Toilet Magazine

Toilet Paper is a “new generation” magazine that combines commercial photography, twisted narratives and surrealistic imaginary to create a series of powerful visual tableaux. Maurizio Cattelan – a strong and provocatory artist – is challenging again the limits of contemporary value system of which he is part. This time he teases the ambitious world of magazine publishers and serious art critics. He is not afraid to build a bridge between the commercial photography an art – the bridge that in Poland is considered not existing or taboo. All photographs visualize the ideas of the artist and are created in collaboration with a well-known Italian photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari. In an interview for the Italian edition of Vogue Ferrari comments on the new magazine: The magazine springs from a passion/ obsession that Maurizio and I have in common. Each picture springs from an idea, even a simple one, and then becomes a complex orchestration of people who build tableaux vivants. This project is also a sort of mental outburst.

Design | Cafeteria Table by Prouvé (circa 1953)

What if you won the lottery and you got some fresh cash in your hands? If we were you, we’d buy good stuff. For example, we’d buy this astonishing table designed and produced by Jean Prouvé, unbeated design Maestro, in 1953. Yes, we know 9000,00 Euro ain’t that low price, but remember, you won the lottery!

Art | New York Magazine

Everybody knows Milton Glaser for his I LOVE NYC logo, or for the Bob Dylan's poster. Amongst all the uncomparable projects his mind has created in the last 50 years, we cannot forget the New York Magazine that was founded by himself together with Clay Felker in 1968. Glaser was the Art Director from the first issue until 1977 and we still find his use of typography so classic and at the same time modern. Check this link with the archive of some issues. It is impossible not to continuously take ideas and inspirations.

Creativity | W+K Platform

We just discovered this new project made by those genius at Wieden+Kennedy, simply called "Platform". What is Platform? We copied and pasted this sort of manifesto:
- We need to change our attitude about “tomorrow never comes, so we don’t worry about it.”
- We were late getting to the digital party, so want to make sure we are well ahead in the ‘post digital’ age.
- We are changing our relationships with digital technologies to an attitude that is more concerned with being human, than with being digital.
- We need to explore the interplay between digital and cultural systems, between cyberspace and real space, between virtual and augmented reality and between mixed reality in social and physical communication.

We'll keep constantly our eyes on this webiste in the next months. We're sure it'll be really inspiring.

Web | CARSON Mag

Almost 11 years ago, we started working in a Communication Agency, where it was possible to find collections of unbelievable and ultra rare Magazines. One of the magazine we loved the most, was RAY GUN. Innovative and experimental, it was led and directed by David Carson, one of the most respected Art Director, true King of Typography. Eleven years after, we're happy to announce that Carsonmag.net is now online.

Web | The Magaziner

Jean Snow, the man behind seminal website Jeansnow.net, has recently launched a new website called "The Magaziner", where magazines and digital meet. This is the philosophy behind the platform: "We hereby define a new term, that of the magaziner, described as a person who exerts an unhealthy amount of love for all things magazine. The Magaziner is a site that mostly focuses on the intersection between magazines and the digital frontier, and what it means for the medium. This does not preclude the inclusion of a healthy amount of print love". What can we say more? We love it.
